ROOTS OF PROJECT DRAWDOWN. The 2013 report of the IPCC (Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change) demonstrated that the impacts of global warming were coming faster than any previous models had predicted. Amidst widespread despair over our prospects, a call went out to research institutions around the world to create a team that would hunt for already-existing solutions to global warming. A coalition of more than 300 scientists, researchers, advisors, and other contributors from 22 countries teamed up to IDENTIFY, MEASURE, AND MODEL the most impactful technological, ecological, and behavioral SOLUTIONS to global warming. Their astonishing findings were published in April 2017, in the book, “Project Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming,” edited by world-renowned author Paul Hawken (in photo).
Sponsored by KANSAS CITY DRAWDOWN SOCIETY. We’re committed to sparking widespread participation in reversing global warming throughout the broader Kansas City region and beyond.
* to shift people’s way of relating to global warming, from fear and despair to evidence-based hope and action,
* to catalyze widespread engagement with and sustained commitment to the worldwide movement to reverse global warming, and,
* to get everyone talking about Project Drawdown!
Our broader mission (a la the Pachamama Alliance):
* to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on Earth.
We will engage 200,000 people in Pachamama Drawdown “Gettin Into Action” Courses, and help create a web of engaged, diverse citizens throughout the region who are committed to reversing global warming.
