After seeing the movie Harriet this week, I pondered what is it that this movie brings to our times today?  The one word I came away with was “inspiration.”  Harriet Tubman was a remarkable woman and her story moves you to your core…please do go see it in theatres now.  This small woman was a mighty force against slavery and freed 300 slaves via the underground railroad.  If we are honest, we all need to be that aggressive against all that enslaves us still.  We are not finished with racism and opression in our country nor our world.  Until we are all free none of us are truly free.  The conditions we are faced with daily can be really overwhelming and exhausting.  Are you seeking some sense of direction in your life to navigate these rough waters?  I hope so because we need every one of us stepping up into leadership into better ways of living on this planet.  There is no time to sit back and figure someone else will fix everything.  It takes what you carry with you in your DNA and it needs to come forth now.

Many of our young people have been deeply inspired by Greta Thunberg, the climate activist.  Groups are meeting steadily in Lawrence and places all over the world.  (Follow the Sunrise Movement to learn more.) Their activism can give us hope but truly it is not their job; it takes every one of us to turn a Titanic this large.  Paddling along alone can feel insignificant and hopeless, but coming together allows everyone to feel the momentum.

This month on the 23rd, we will celebrate the 25th birthday of The Light Center.  As I look back at the countless people who have helped to build this place, I am deeply inspired.  It has not been an issue of simply rebuilding an old farm, it has been about building a lucious field of energy that is felt by all who enter.  I started out alone but was immediately shown that Spirit had my back and all the help I needed was as close as my breath.  I have had relatives who died, stepping in with financial support every step of the way.   And I have been aware of Guidance that is work constantly, so that it is never necessary to feel alone. There have been times when TLC has taken me to my knees, unsure of how to go on, and always, always someone has come through for me, whether in a body or not!  What a mighty team! I am humbled beyond words.

Harriet Tubman followed her Guidance to do what most people thought was impossible.  Be that person now.  Your ideas matter.  It is time for your dreams to be born into the world.  Keep this quote from Harriet close to your heart and be a conductor to show the way ahead:

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
Harriet Tubman

Let’s find our way to freedom,
