95 acres of wonderful opportunities for camping and backpacking.
Nestled in a wooded valley amidst the farm land of Kansas.
This sanctuary offers a 30ft Pacific Yurt & 12ft Pacific Yurt for campers, as well as lots of remote, private space in the woods for respectful off-grid tent camping.
If you’re looking for something indoors, we offer 2 private rooms in our well rehabilitated 125 year old barn. Shared kitchen and bathroom.
Our space serves as a spiritual retreat center and so we welcome peaceful camping for people with reverence for the land and all beings. We also have goats chickens, guinea hens, dogs and cats. There is a large creek that winds throughout the land and goes up and down with rainfall, determining how easy the access will be to the backpacking acreage.
We ask that all outdoor campers, backpackers and “yurt-ers” bring their own water and camping supplies.
We are a drug & alcohol free facility
Only start fires in designated fire pits, & never during drought periods or burn bans.
Please be sure all fires are COMPLETELY extinguished prior to leaving the site.
A shovel will be provided & we ask that any waste you leave in the woods be well buried, including toilet paper.
Composting toilet near yurts.
Insect spray is advised during tick & chigger season.
“This place was absolutely incredible! The yurt was beautiful and The Light Center was an all around great place. I got to hike around the property in the mornings and have my own personal bon fire at night. Everyone who works/lives there was incredibly kind to me and very helpful. I would, and already have, recommended this place to all of my friends. If you’re looking for more than just your average airbnb experience, give this a try. You won’t regret it.”

“We had a great stay with a feeling of instant friends and community. The grounds are beautiful. Abundance from the garden and other generosity was ample. It is a place in the deep country. That is something we wanted. The college town of Lawrence is 15 miles away and has everything else.”
